Highlights of visit of Mayor of Pune,
Mrs Rajalaxmi BHOSALE to Mayor of Puteaux, Madam Joelle CECCALDI on Monday 10th September 2007
Object
The main object of this visit was to explore the
“twin-city” project between Pune and Puteaux.
Programme of Visit
On the Monday morning, the Puteaux municipality
organised a visit of the town for Mrs Bhosale. Mrs
Anne-Marie Amsellem, Deputy Mayor and Mr David
Barbelivien, responsible for International Relations,
conducted this visit showing important places like town
hall, theatre, old church built in 16th Century and “médiathèque”.
Shashi Dharmadhikari also accompanied Mrs Bhosale during
this visit.
A lunch was organised by the Mayor of Puteaux on the
honour of the Mayor of Pune. Following members of
Maharashtra Mandal France were also invited as guests: <Asha
and Chandrashekhar Rajguru, Rajendra Shende, Girish
Dharmapurikar (who could not join due to family
reasons), Vinitaa Apte (who came especially from Pune to
accompany Mrs Bhosale), Shashi Dharmadhikari.>
During the lunch, both mayors exchanged their views
about the “twin-city” project. Although the population
of Puteaux is only around 45 000 compared to 3 to 4
million of Pune, there are many common points between
both cities (rich in history, favourable economical
situation, proximity to metropolitan cities, modern
transport facilities, headquarter of major industrial
firms etc.).
During afternoon, Mrs Bhosale also visited the
“Environment Park” of Puteaux, where one can see
different varieties of live fish captured in the Seine
river. The Puteaux town offered Mrs Bhosale “Rose de
Puteaux” as a souvenir for her visit.
On Wednesday 12th September, the Puteaux municipality
also organised a visit to the municipal waster treatment
plant under construction at Issy-les-Moulineaux. This
plant will produce 50 MW electricity and 200 tonnes/hr
of high pressure steam (for home/office heating) by
burning about 60 tonnes/h of household waste.
Follow-up Actions
Following actions will be taken by Shashi Dharmadhikari
in coming weeks to follow-up the visit of Mrs Bhosale:
A letter of thanks to the Mayor of Puteaux
highlighting advantages of the present “twin-city”
project,
Provide information to Mrs Bhosale regarding a
possible waste treatment plant at Pune to burn 300
tons/day of household waste (power produced, budget cost
etc.)
Provide technical information of the water treatment
facility at Bois-Colombes to Mrs Bhosale. This facility
treats and recycles back the water of the Seine river.
Thanks to such facilities, fish breading is now possible
in the Seine river.
A delegation from India will visit France during October
2007 to explore future co-operation between India and
France, and Mrs Bhosale may join this delegation.
Dinner with MMF Core Group
A dinner was organised by the MMF core group for Mrs
Bhosale and Mr Dilip Prabhavalkar on Wednesday 12th
September.
The history and present activities of MMF were presented
to Mrs Bhosale, who was very much pleased to learn that
MMF is organising the next EMS and promised to help.
