Suswagatam', 'Namaskar', 'Ram Ram Pahune', ' Kase kay ?' are the various expressions with which we, Maharashtrians, welcome the friends and even strangers in Marathi.

'Bienvenue', ' Bonjour', ' Comment allez vous?' ' Ca Va? ' are also the expressions with which we Maharashtrians in France welcome the friends and even strangers in French. Obviously there is nothing common in these expressions in terms of the nature of words. But in terms of feelings and emotions behind these greetings are shared with equal passion by the Maharashtrians and the French.

Maharashtrians have ever binding relation with performing art like drama, dance, tamasha, and lavani and like. French too demonstrate similar commitment to the performing arts. The number of drama theatres in single city of Paris and varied drama experiments that continue in France are unparallel any where in the world.

Are these the only similarities between France and Maharashtra? We, small number of Maharashtrian families in France do not feel so. And many still remain unexplored. The globalisation has paved the way for the Franco-Marathi exchanges. Even French too, feel the same way. The recent collaborations in wineries of Nasik and Baramati have started showing their French palate and flavours. Cultural, Social and economic exchanges are widening as the markets open and interactions enhance. We intend to encourage promote them. That's the basic objective of Maharashtra Mandal France -MMF.
